Taste of Racing Program
RKW Motorsports has developed a new race rental program to increase turnouts at the local offroad RC racers in the Portland Metro area. The program is called the “Taste of Racing” and has been created to both introduce would be racers to the fun and excitement of offroad RC racing, as well as giving current racers an extra class to run without the expense of a whole new car. The best part about the class is all the cars are run together in their own class and they are identically prepared for the racers making for a truly “spec” racing class. The program consists of six identically prepared 2wd short course trucks furnished complete with brushless power systems, lipo batteries, personal transponders, and race spec tires to make for a fun, competitive, and even playing field for all racers. The icing on the cake is that when you sign up for a rental truck for the race day, everything is taken care of for you. All you have to do is drive and corner marshall; everything else from maintenance to cleaning of the car and charging batteries is done for you throughout the day. The prices for club race days are $20 for the rental vehicle, plus a minimal fee for any parts that are broken or damaged beyond repair. This does not include your race entry fee, this must be paid to the track like any other race class.
The program debuted this past weekend at TopGear Hobbies Raceway with great success. Five of the six available trucks were run for the race day and even made for one of the closest finishes of the day (less than .1 seconds) and everyone racing came off the stand with a big smile. Two of the trucks were even driven in the snake race at the end of the day and made up two of the three final vehicles standing at the end of the timed event!
