Team Losi Racing releases their all-new 22SCT-RTC 2wd short course
Equipped with a powerful 17.5T Sensored brushless motor and ESC with LiPo cut-off. The Dynamite ESC comes with programmable timing and non-timing functions. Vehicle includes a spare pinion gear to accommodate the timing gear ratio. The interference-free, 2-channel DX2L transmitter features Spektrum 2.4 GHz DSM ® technology. Featuring independent travel dials, throttle limiting switch and a steering dual-rate knob. Silicone filled viscous gear differential is virtually maintenance free, allowing more run time and less wrench time to increase the overall durability of the drivetrain. Equipped with an extra-high torque digital servo that yields 140 oz-in of torque and a satisfying full-range of speed. The servo utilizes full ball bearings and metal gears for enhanced precision and durability. The largest shock bore in its class enables improved handling over bumps and improved jump recovery. The included aluminum shock caps include a bleeder screw for easy maintenance and rebuilding. Designed for optimal performance, the 22™ SCT has a body that maximizes airflow around and through it.
To meet the demands of short course racing, the 22 SCT is agile and built to last with 4mm heavy-duty turnbuckles. The precision-machined 7075-T6 2.5mm aluminum chassis is hard-anodized for increased durability and a great look. This design allows the overall height of the front tower to be much lower and lowers the 22SCT’s center of gravity, which improves handling. Smooth the ride, tame large jumps and tune suspension performance with these oversized shocks with bladder compensators and bleeder valve shock caps. Every piece of hardware on the 22SCT is metric so there is no guessing and no need for multiple sets of tools. The 22SCT RTC comes fully-equipped with a full set of high-speed, sealed ball-bearings are used throughout the vehicle to ensure maximum efficiency.

AKA 1/8th medium inserts
AKA have updated their medium insert with the addition of fluting on the inside, just like the world championship winning soft “Red” insert. New Factory Team machined pistons for the 12mm big bore shocks take performance to the next level.
Precision CNC machined pistons allow for the best fitment and concentricity with the shock body to improve handling and consistency. The new pistons are also tapered for independent tuning of compression and rebound.
Terminology
Compression movement: Shock piston traveling upward toward the top of the shock
Rebound movement: Shock piston traveling downward toward the bottom of the shock
Tapered piston: One side of the piston face is flat; the other is tapered / angled
Flat piston: Top and bottom of the piston face are flat
Difference between tapered and flat pistons
A flat piston will travel at the same speed in compression as it does in rebound (given equal force is provided in both directions)
A tapered piston will travel faster in the direction of the taper/angle.
For example, a tapered piston with the taper facing down will travel faster in rebound than it will in compression, allowing the user to tune the rebound and compression movement independently.

Piston Hole Size
Larger holes allow more fluid to pass through the shock piston, which allows the shock to move faster.
Smaller holes will have the opposite effect, causing the shock to move slower.
Piston Hole Count
By changing the number of holes in the piston, a similar damping level can be achieved with different amounts of “pack.” Pack is the feeling of hydraulic lock in a shock when the fluid flowing through the holes reaches a certain speed. It can be used to keep a car from bottoming out during harsh landings.

The 25th Annual CRCRC Winter Mid-West Electric Off-Road Championships
The 25th Annual CRCRC Winter Mid-West Electric Off-Road Championships were held this past weekend in Jeffersonville, OH. This is known as the first big electric off-road race of the new year as well as being one of the longest on-going races to date. This years event reached an outstanding 355 entries! Team Orion would once again have 2 of their aces in attendance this year with Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri.
Race Schedule:
Wednesday, January 9th: Open Practice
Thursday, January 10th: Controlled Practice
Friday, January 11th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Saturday, January 12th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday, January 13th: Lower Main Bump-Ups / Triple A-Main Events
Race Program:
The overall qualifying order in each class was determined by the points system. This system would take each drivers 2 best qualifying round finishes out of 4. The top 10 drivers from each class would automatically go into the A-Main Events. This would be the first year CRCRC incorporated the bump-up system to their electric race. Lower main events up through the B’s were ran earlier on main day. The top 2 finishers from each main event would bump into the next main. This would make a 12 car field for the triple A-Main Events.

Team Orion/AE Factory Driver Ryan Cavalieri would TQ every round of qualifying to take the overall TQ!
Cavalieri went onto win A-Main #1 and #2 in convincing fashion to take home the 2wd Modified Short Course Championship with his Team Orion powered Associated SC10!
